Katherine Region
Although Katherine is the largest town between Darwin and Alice Springs, the reason to stop there isn’t because of its population. The Beauty of the Nitmiluk National Park (Katherine Gorge) is the real reason to stop by. If you intend to explore Western Australia after visiting Northern Territory, Katherine is the last sizable civilisation before crossing the border.
