Janie News AAPS

Mother of two, stepmother of another two, and grandmother of an adorable little boy, I live with my husband Len in Mount Kuring-Gai , 30K north of Sydney.  The Kuring-Gai National Park is at the end of our street and is my favourite photographic location.

My background is in design.  For 11 years I designed soft toys and owned a small puppet factory.  When the business was sold Photoshop became my new creative tool and I was fortunate to find work as a graphic designer for several years.

However, it wasn’t until Len and I joined the Central Coast Leagues Club Camera club in 2004 that I started photography, a hobby that has become almost a way of life now that I have retired.  I‘m currently president of the club and have inaugurated a digital section to add a new dimension to competitions.

My graphic work has translated into an ability to turn images into something original through montage and blended images using Photoshop.  I hold private workshops twice a month and write occasional articles for photography magazines.

I get great enjoyment of out being a FCC judge, and am member of the APS in Australia as well as belonging to the PSA in the U.S.A   The Folios in the APS and Study Group in the PSA have provided invaluable feedback on my work.   I enter national and international salons where I have been awarded several medals.  Last year I achieved my AAPS.
